Ethical Farmers (PVT) LTD serves as the Small Organic Farmers’ Association (SOFA) business arm. During the SOFA Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2024, Ethical Farmers formalized a partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to allocate 50% of their profits to SOFA. This initiative aims to promote socio-economic sustainability and empower the community of small-scale organic farmers.

SOFA is a fully independent Small Producer Organization that has been committed to the principles of Fairtrade for over 24 years. The association upholds SPP (Small Producers’ Symbol) social standards, benefiting tea farmers in Sri Lanka’s central region. With a membership of over 3,600 registered farmer-producers, SOFA cultivates certified organic teas, spices, coconuts, herbs, and related crops following international organic standards.

The organization manages a certified cultivation area of 6,091.33 acres through 62 branch societies spread across five key regions: Gampola, Matale, Diyathalawa, Galle, and Kurunegala, covering the Central, Uva-Southern, and Wayamba provinces of Sri Lanka. In recognition of its commitment to sustainability and fair trade practices, SOFA was honored as the “Best Producer Organization in the South Asian Pacific Region” at the Fairtrade Awards in 2016.
