Ethical Farmers (Pvt) Ltd<\/strong> is a Sri Lankan producer, processor, and exporter of premium organic spices, herbs, essential oils, coconut products, and other value-added agricultural products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Established in 2015<\/strong>, Ethical Farmers was founded with a simple yet powerful purpose\u2014to create a business that delivers lasting value to the smallholder farmers who cultivate Sri Lanka\u2019s rich agricultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than an export company, Ethical Farmers represents a new model of responsible business where commercial success is measured not only by financial performance but also by the prosperity of farming communities, environmental stewardship, and long-term sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, Ethical Farmers proudly serves as the Business Arm of the Small Organic Farmers Association (SOFA)<\/strong>, connecting certified organic smallholder farmers with customers around the world through ethical sourcing, responsible processing, and transparent trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Story<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ethical Farmers was founded in 2015<\/strong> by Mr. Bernard Ranaweera<\/strong>, whose vision was to establish a business that could provide long-term economic sustainability for Sri Lanka’s organic smallholder farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recognizing that farmers often receive only a small share of the value created in international markets, Mr. Bernard envisioned a company that would move beyond simply purchasing agricultural commodities. Instead, the company would invest in processing, value addition, quality assurance, international certifications, and direct exports, allowing farmers to participate in higher-value global supply chains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2025<\/strong>, Ethical Farmers entered a new era with the establishment of its modern spice processing operations under the leadership of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Ethical Farmers proudly represents the commercial and export arm of the Small Organic Farmers Association (SOFA)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      This unique relationship is founded on trust, transparency, and a shared commitment to improving the livelihoods of Sri Lanka\u2019s organic smallholder farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      A formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)<\/strong> was signed during the SOFA Annual General Meeting in the presence of its member producers, establishing Ethical Farmers as the exclusive purchaser of spices produced by SOFA members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
