Established in 1997 with 189 pioneering farmers, SOFA has grown into a network of over 3,600 smallholder farmers cultivating certified organic crops across the country.
SOFA empowers its members through farmer training, organic certification support, technical assistance, quality improvement, and market access. The organization promotes environmentally responsible farming practices that preserve soil health, biodiversity, and natural ecosystems while producing high-quality organic agricultural products.
Working closely with its commercial partners, Ethical Farmers (Pvt) Ltd and Ethical Teas (Pvt) Ltd, SOFA enables farmers to access international markets for organic spices, herbs, tea, essential oils, coconut products, and other agricultural commodities. Through transparent sourcing, Fairtrade principles, and benefit-sharing mechanisms, the organization ensures that the value created from exports is shared with farming communities.
